what this bbq needs is... monopoly

Summer is back (don't jinx it)

A bit of summer classics:

Our new Venus fly trap eating a wasp - good for you Venus!
Drinking Monopoly which got a bit out of hand
A fly dying in my cider
Josh tending to his vegetables... what old people we are!
Monocles, top hats and smoking pipes, well we were playing monopoly
Juicy burgers with plastic cheese
SUNSHINEEE

AND that completes another little list.

Iceland 2010

(sorry it isn't very good quality... I'm very impatient when waiting for things to load)

I found this and just had to share it.
SHARING IS CARING.
This is just a little something I made when we went to Iceland one Christmas and stayed in a posh posh hotel. We also epically failed to see the Northern lights (which ended up being a mad chase around some dark hills in the middle of the night in big coaches wearing thermals and sitting alongside a lot of fancy tourists with big arse cameras... you know... the real romantic types)

BUT Iceland is a pretty lovely place. And wrapping up warm isn't always a un-sexy thingggg.

I just love my bear hat.

recently

Before you commit to reading this... you should know:
I like to make lists and stroke bunnies

a few late night thoughts from a little mind

I'm not a very good writer. I prefer to take pictures and draw stuff, I told my friends that when I get really drunk I start looking at people's faces really up close and FRIENDLY LIKE and imagine how I would draw them. Its not that I am a talented painter or anything special... I'm just happiest with a pen and an empty patch of paper to CLAIM AS MINE.

ALSO I realised over the last few YEARSSS that I have had possibly a brilliant skill.... I can't have horrible friends.

Partly because I am a big CRY BABY and if people say anything slightly mean about me, I do cry. Trust me, I have many weird tendencies from people judging. Like excessive shaving habits, even in winter my legs are HAIRLESSS, and most girls will probably rub their legs now. And I cry at films a lot too. Even if I start watching them half way through (although Jurassic Park is always on at the right time for my weekends and I love a bit of dinosaur munching)

ANYWAY....

The reason I made this little discovery is because I like friends and drawing. TADAAA. What a let down of a conclusion to my ramblings. I really meant to say something profound.

But I prefer nonsense. I prefer eating beef slices out of the sandwiches they are meant to be put in, and whole blocks of cheese on its own, and marking down on our poo chart when I do the businesssssss in the toilet as me and Josh want to know who poos more, and falling asleep to makeup tutorials from the kind of elegant-soothing-going to fall asleep now voice of Michelle Phan even though there is no waaaay I would ever put anything but eyeliner on these eyes (i'm a wimp), and buying chitty chitty bang bang on ebay for a pound because I earn monies now and I like having a film that has the phrase 'bang bang' in it, and buying bubble wands and Swedish cider from tescos and justifying this as a good shopping trip, and thinking sky lanterns are useless when in fact it was the alcohol the first time round that probably was the reason for our massive failures in any making them fly further than the nearby trees, and playing balderdash with naughty answers, and still thinking gorilla sounds are scary, and believing that dying my hair ginger was a good idea (it was not), and reading porn magazines on the toilet like a LAD, and sitting in the back garden with my best friends deciding if the cat is going to be our friend today as she often pees in strangers shoes....

the list goes on and on and on.

But just for tonight... I bored you with it :)

The weekend that made me look like less of a lad

My weekend.
My favourite weekends include the following:
  1.) Good food
Ostrich burgers (probably not every weekend... I don't want to extinct the species or anything? Ostrich's look like mean birds. They have that MASSIVE eye)
We also had a roast. WITH CRACKLING.

2.) My new obsession
I love word feud. Its scrabble but somehow feels cooler to me.

3.) Our potted plants
How old do I want to sound? But there is nothing as exciting as discovering you actually were able to grow a cucumber without killing it. Also, one day when I want cucumber I will be able to pop outside and pick it... that means I definitely will avoid that whole drama with if people should eat cucumbers or not at the moment.

4.) The PlayStation that is attached to josh.
Its kind of the other person in our relationship. And I will probably hide it from him soon. But for the meanwhile we like to get all competitive.

5.) Asda cheap Bourbon.
My favourite drink. That's it.

6.) GO KARTING
Apparently I am not very good at this sport but I can sure as hell give some girls a run for their money. I just need to bulk up my feeble arms and then I could totally do those corners better.

And things I don't like so much:

1.) The fact I hurt myself TWICE this weekend.
Once by falling over a cable... which I had just rearranged so I knew perfectly well where it was. Falling spectacularly on my knee as I tried to save my face and phone.
Secondly, at go karting when a massive DOUCHE decided to cut me up and I drove into the tyre wall and completely cut open my back in the impact. GROSSS.

2.) James Pond the game. Its as terrible as its name suggests.

I love weekends because I can get away with wearing pjs all day and drinking straight from the bottle.

long exposure and long drive = fancy pictures

Driving from Birmingham to Farnham was a bit of an epic drive to be completed after work.

We decided to have a car picnic consisting of all the summer favourites except the prawns decided to explode everywhere. I do not like prawns. I do not like prawn juice. I'd like to think I dislike prawns because my pet shrimp would be offended, but actually its just because they smell, are slimy and still have eyes when you eat them. BLERRGGG.

Also I am now a customer service advisor for trains. People complain a LOT about trains.

I have learnt a lot so far:
1.) People who complain are very angry and it makes me laugh when I get called names and people demand replies or they are going to write to the press or try and get us shut down
2.) I apologise a lot as it is, now I do this for a job... expect a lot more whiney apologies.
3.) I don't think I will ever put a complaint into places.

We had a 5 hour train journey home today from London (a journey that would often take us about 2 hours) because we had SUCH BAD LUCK. We missed two trains by a matter of seconds. I recon it was all part of my evil scheme as I got sympathy Burger King as a result. And it was super size. And I ate a whole box of pringles.
(When I was younger my mum would limit our pringle intake to 10 pringles each and we would religiously count out the correct amount of pringles we were allowed. Every now and then I would sneak an extra one or two and feel so proud I had got away with it. Sometimes I would get caught out by my sisters as my pile looked bigger and then I would have to pretend I was stupid when it came to counting. I am terrible at maths.)

AND FINALLY...
I have red hair.

back to the land of steak pie (Britain)

 Back in Britain

So I am officially back in the country and its good to be home. I have new high tops which make my every step colourful and spongy. Also you forget how much countryside there is in England. Josh's house is right by cows... there was one that gave really good evils.
There are other reasons why it is so good to be back:
* Steak pie and chips for less than £5
* The tesco vouchers that come to our house addressed to "the Honourable Captain Birdseye"
* New job just round the corner (hopefully the interview goes OK tomorrow) and that means the road trips can begin
* Josh being reunited with his TV and blender. The joys of simple pleasures.
* Me being reunited with pet shops and slices of beef

But the most exciting thing is:
We have new fish!!
Welcome to the family... Sue, Sooty, Sweep and Stuart, Stuart, Stuart and Stuart.
This is why you do not let the boys name the fish!!
4 Zebra fish and 3 sucky fish that are the fastest little movers you will ever see!
Now, this is where some motherly instinct kicks in (its not over children yet... babies make me kinda freak out. I am WAY too immature) I was so worried about Lenin our shrimp the other day. You see, the sucky fish have INVADED Lenin's Kremlin (this is actually just a set of pipes) and so I was frantically tapping the glass to get them to move out... this did not work. Poor Lenin. But happy ending time... Lenin is now a big fella who will probably beat them up.

Also, I now want turtles.
This is a good idea right?

My last day in Gothenburg

The last few days in Gothenburg have been really odd. I have grown to feel like Gothenburg is my home and so it was weird thinking that I would be back in England soon! So this is my last day and its been glorious sunshine all week except today... I think the rain is my sign Gothenburg is sad! Ha!

We have had some amazing food out recently, in order not to buy too much for our cupboards to go to waste. Gothenburg knows how to do cafes and restaurants.

I will honestly miss Gothenburg, its just turning to summer here and the days are really, really long. For example, the other night when me and Josh went out... the only time it was dark was when we were waiting in the queue at about midnight because arriving in the city center it was still sunny (about 10pm) and once we left at about 4am it was light! Where was the nighttime?

I am so lucky to have lived here over the last few months and see Gothenburg transform from Winter to Spring/Summer. There once was ice in the sea and now the trees are full of blossom and its stunning. All the people here are sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and it makes me happy.

I just hope when I'm back in England I can sort my life out! I need a job badly and this damn applying process just means I can never get a foot in the door. I have applied to many places now so *fingers crossed*. SEE YOU IN ENGLAND THIS SATURDAY.

I swear I am going to ninja hug all of my friends. I miss them so much :)

Goodbye Gothenburg or
Adjö Göteborg, till nästa gång.

this is all a bit lame (the race)

So I bought these wind up toys for Josh and one night we raced them. ha!

Yes this is what five year olds do. I like that. Also snail and stegosaurus are weirdly the same speed and have become our recent drinking game bet.

Thats all :)

Språkcaféet

Språkcaféet (Language Cafe Gothenburg)

The basics: This is a language cafe that is in the middle of the city center, it sells well-priced coffee and cakes in a charming little cafe with Internet wifi too.

Its real benefits are the fact at 5:30 pm every weekday they host a language evening whereby you can go along and sit at a table with your countries flag on and talk to people in your native language or learn a new language.

History: Apparently the cafe started when lots of Spanish-speaking immigrants came over to Sweden in the 1970s and therefore they would get together to learn to speak Swedish whilst also finding other Spanish-speaking people in the city. Then the Language cafe started to continue the idea of people coming together to share their language.

If you ever are in Sweden, for more information go to the Goteborg tourist information.
