beautiful Turkey

these are some snaps from a few years back in Turkey. It is a stunning country so enjoy these pic-a-tures.

the sharing post

I wanted to share some things I am enjoying right now. Then you can get the warm fuzzies from them too :)

Click on any of the links to be transported to the joys of another grand place in this world wide web.

I enjoy watching this show called Archer

And for a bigger commitment of your time, two films I enjoy over and over again are Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Fall

When it gets warmer I am going to open some nom nom nom halloumi as cheese is my addiction.

Read any book by Lonely Planet whenever you want to go travelling. They have the best ideas on cheap and cheerful hostels with real character and all the little local places to eat. They even do guides called travelling on a shoestring. Bravo

Sensible idea... use the bank First Direct. They have the friendliest banker-people who like talking to you about things other than numbers and money. They even liked me when I talked about fish and bubbles.

NEVER buy from Jacamo. They trick you into a credit agreement randomly for £125.00 without any warning and then expect you to guess all of this until you realise that your account does not quite add up. RUBBISH. Also, that advert is very annoying. I keep getting tricked into thinking one of the men is famous and then realise that... oh no... he is just loud.

I am playing little big planet and getting very upset when the sack bots die. Yes, I know I am a big kid.

My little envy moment. I have not got the patience to ever complete anything like this amazing artist's work.

And if you like reading and art... this one will be your happy moment.

I'm listening to a lot of classic things like Queen and this little beaut and the classic songs of Jason Mraz when I brush my teeth but this one song is a little overplayed in our kitchen when we are whipping up a dinner fit for kings.

Clothes are my addiction. Forever 21 is my cure. I want furry scarfes and shiny dresses.

This blog caught me eye as its hilarious!!

 a bear wave

I can add to it along the way :)

today is a factual day

...about animals
My photo of a giraffe about to dribble all over josh
And my giraffe version
The spider that kills the most people in Australia (the huntsman spider) is not venomous, it actually kills people as it loves finding cosy little nests and loves nothing more than to hide under car sun visors and drop on unsuspecting drivers when it feels like it. That's dangerous hide and seek.

Do you think Jelly fish are evil little things? Well, take this Jelly Fish! Jelly fish can evaporate in the sun as they are 98% water, so just point and laugh.

I just love ducks. But if you do not.. Anatidaephobia is the fear that somewhere in the world, there is a duck watching you.

If you got all the people in the world on a massive weighing scales and all the ants in the world on the same scales... we would all weigh the same!?! So if you are feeling a little tubby and think your food baby is a tiny bit gross, just think of all those fatty ants taking up their fair share of the scales. P.s. If they ever work out this, as they can lift double their weight, they could just pick us up and take us to Disneyland. Or even better... bring Disneyland to us?

An elephant can die from a broken heart. Also when an elephant is about to die all the rest of the herd does a final parade to the graveyard. They really would make a terrible one-night stand, but at least the walk of shame home would be done in full-on carnival costume. This is also why there is not an elephant version of Jeremy Kyle.

Want to know what is a pain in the neck? In 1945, a rooster name Mike lived for 18 months without a head. Good job he didn't get given a hat for Christmas.

Polar bear skin is black and fur is white. So when singing Michael Jackson's song "doesn't matter if your black or white" think of all those Polar Bears (and pandas) having such a nice multiracial time.

All these facts are not all from my noggin. Some are. Most are taken from the world wide web. Therefore, if any of these are wrong... I blame everyone else.

january is FANNY-UARY

Recently

After returning back to Brummie my life has evolved round trying to find another job. Its a masssssivvveeee effort. I seem to be one of those people who cannot write a good cover letter as I use the word "enthusiastic" too much. EAGER BEAVER.

Thing is, my job is pretty dreadful. I get shouted at by angry angry people over the phone and the paperwork is insane... but one thing that does entertain me are the many many excuses we get for clients not showing up to placement. My all time favourite has to be a lad who said he could not attend as all his teeth had fallen out. Simultaneously??  So I need something else desperately.

However the rest of the time is taken up with...

Pies and comfort food
My tamagotchi that grew up to be some sort of ugly fish with legs but married a duck and gave birth to a mushroom... as you do
Pub journeys
Fluffy coats
Sofa days full of TV and my onesie
Playing badminton which makes Josh run like a bull at the net and makes me leap around like a fish out of water.
House hunting for lovely places to live which gets me all kinds of excited as I get to imagine getting a kitten...ha!
Little Big Planet 2
The party poppers scare game
Lots of left-over Christmas goodies we keep discovering, our latest being the chocolate treats and where's wally styled "wheres the meerkat". Brilliant

Brussels beer basics

From head to base

This is my little lowdown on our taster in Brussels beer and food.

We photographed most of them!

Our favourite dark beer: St Bernadus about 10% alcohol with a fruity twist

Our favourite light beer: Kwak which makes a quacking noise when passing through the glass

Our favourite main meal: Steak with cheese and beer sauce found at La Villette

Our favourite pudding: Creme Brulee

Our favourite restaurant: La Villette a cute little French-style restaurant with checkered tablecloths and walls full of pin-up billboard styled adverts

Our favourite pub: Delirium Cafe with beer barrel tables, a beer list as long as my arm and its always busy

nom nom nom

Most of the pubs in Brussels are really oldy-worldly and one called the A L'Image de Nostre-Dame has a pub cat called Mickey that runs around drinker's legs. There are loads that feauture their own special beer and if you want a really traditional pub/cafe then try Au Daringman or Les Postiers that are both full of locals and double up as both a cafe during the day and a pub in the evening. You will always crack up a conversation in Au Daringman - we certainly did - and Les Postiers serves their beer in glasses that are as big as your head. However, our favourite was Delirium Cafe that was packed of people every evening and introduced me to St Bernadus.

To grab a portion of frites either try Maison Antoine which is a bit of a walk from the lower town but so worth it or Fritland right by Bourse that has a long queue of people desperate for frites and other fried goods.

For a slightly more mature and civilised evening meal check out Domaine de Lintillac that specialises in duck dishes and has a toaster on every table so when you have a starter (which all arrive on bread) you can toast away! La Villette was our favourite though with the delicious steak and charming atmosphere.

bear bear bear

So you know how winter is soooo cold? Its a bit naff right?

Well, not with this bear onesie.

Complete with thumb holes and a bum flap for the all important winter toilet trips. I'm in love.

I don't want to take it off. EVER.

Pj party please work?

the lights of Brussels

This was the light show of the Brussels Christmas market, the people on stilts light fireworks and crackers and walk all around the market area. We nearly missed this parade and I forced Josh to run after me as we tried to get to the front. Later we also saw all the performers in the bar we were drinking at. (I'm not sure why that's important?) Even the Grand Palace gets a Christmas light show whereby a massive tree is surrounded by about 12 poles with lights on top that dance to songs all over the square. Pretty spectacular.

So here are some photos... Oh and a picture of me climbing a giant flower pot... as you do.

I think this city is prettier at night-time.

fatties on tour

Firstly, happy new year!

My Christmas present to Josh this year was a little train trip over the pond....
This Christmas we went for a wee trip to Brussels.
For a glorious 3 days.

However to be completely honest, most of what we did was a hell of a lot of  drinking and eating.

The typical Brussels delicacy is: beer, frites (chips), cheese and chocolate. What more could you want???

Therefore, I shall just go for a little low down on the rest of what Brussels offers the budding fatty!

The Christmas market in Brussels is full of all the Belgium treats and right in the centre was the Ice rink, Ice monster and massive Brussels wheel. That view (look above) is right from the heights of the wheel... which by the way was soooo cold that I had red-nose syndrome afterwards. The other attractions just make you feel all Christmassy and even includes a massive light show on the 28th December with fireworks and crackers that all the children follow the procession around the square. We were lucky enough to catch this in full action and yessss I have photos of that too! How elusive.

Brussels is the most beautiful city ever. I will indulge you in all sort of photos :)
